rvsao.linespec

linespec is an IRAF task in the rvsao package which creates a spectrum from a set of absorption or emission line positions. This spectrum is written into a one-dimensional IRAF image file which is linear in wavelength.

The resulting spectrum can them be used by xcsao to find redshifts from spectra by cross-correlating them against it following the method of Tonry and Davis 1979, A.J., 84, 1511 ).
