Two new developmental CCD imagers, the 1200 x 400 Reticon and 2048 x 2048 Ford devices, have been evaluated for applications in high-resolution astronomical spectroscopy. Preliminary data on quantum efficiency, read noise, and charge transfer efficiency, and the results of some tests of the performance for measuring precise radial velocities using the Oak Ridge Observatory echelle spectrograph are presented.
